Presentation Information:
This dynamic six-hour workshop explores contemporary concepts of transference and countertransference within the therapeutic rapport. Participants will examine themes such as Cultural Countertransference, Erotic Transference, Implicit Bias in LGBTQIA+ communities, and Intersectionality. We will identify and discuss ethical considerations and the application of salient and effective interventions. Participants will engage in group activities, case study review, role plays, and group discussions to incorporate their unique experiences with transference/countertransference. This live, experiential learning format will model how to address these challenging topics with clients and in clinical supervision.
Objectives:
- Participants will learn to describe and identify contemporary principles of transference and countertransference.
- Participants will gain an understanding of the concept of intersectionality and understand its significance in clinical practice.
- Participants will learn to apply intersectionality to experiences of countertransference in the therapeutic setting.
- Participants will review common ethical considerations in navigating transference and countertransference.
This training is worth six (6) continuing education hours.
An application for six (6) continuing education hours has been made to the Maine Board of Alcohol and Drug Counselors.
