Kristina Knabenshue, LCPC

I became licensed in 2014 (LCPC), having graduated in Fall 2013 from the University of Southern Maine’s Rehabilitation Counseling master’s program. From 2014 to 2018, I provided Home and Community-Based Treatment (HCT) to children ages 0-21 and their families. I love working with adolescents and adults, striving to provide compassionate, patient, trauma-informed, and culturally-sensitive care. I have experience in helping others improve their self-care, develop more effective communication skills, set stronger boundaries, enhance interpersonal relationships (including parenting issues), improve time management skills, process grief and other difficult life transitions, and so much more. I am familiar with neurodivergent, LGBTQ+ issues, complex family trauma, and several other life experiences.

I draw upon several therapeutic modalities during session including CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused therapy, Client/Person Centered therapy, and Psychodynamic therapy.

I take MaineCare, many private insurances, and self-pay for payment options. I can provide both in-person sessions in my Machias office and telehealth through Doxy.me.
