Jana McAuliffe, LCSW

I am committed to meeting each person I encounter with dignity and respect. I am committed to providing a safe space, offering a deep listening presence, while compassionately helping guide through challenges presented using a variety of methods. I work relationally and collaboratively. I hope to help clients access their innate strengths to help move thru challenges, perhaps ignite passions and dreams, AND help support the internal work needed to embody them. Any small step in change process is sacred and worthy, as long as in process we are shifting from surviving and moving closer to thriving. Crisis is a call to action, an opportunity to change. Our unique gifts are most often birthed from our most painful, sacred wound. It is a wound that tends to get triggered often calling for healing deeper. We call it sacred, as if explored correctly, we may end up seeing it as a blessing in the end.
“These pains you feel are messengers. Listen to them.” -Rumi

I began my training in Ecopsychology 20+ years ago. I now see it as an essential practice model for the times we live in. Ultimately, Ecopsychology is concerned with the transformation of hearts and minds essential to reawakening our sacred spiritual connection with other living beings and our planetary home. In this way Ecopsychology is about our becoming both cultural healers and transformers of society.

Here is sample of feedback from client on quality of my clinical practices:

“Jana was not only our daughter’s counselor but she became our own counselor as well. I’m not sure whether it was more challenging for her to counsel our daughter or to counsel us, for I know that we were a family with a long history of anger, violence, abuse, and denial. Jana managed to get through to all of us, break open our issues, convince us to tackle our tough problems, and bring us back together in a way that allowed us to reunite with our daughter and move forward with our lives. …Each of us had already worked with other counselors (some of us for years). None of the counselors came close to understanding the nature or severity of our situation. None of them ever showed the sensitivity, insight, intelligence, patience, guts, and devotion that Jana showed. … There are no words to describe our gratitude.”
