James Douglas, LCPC, RYT 200, offers his clients opportunities for innovative therapeutic dialogue, as well as grounding bodily postures, in order to help facilitate healing within the entirety of one’s organism. His background in traditional mental health counseling is bolstered by experiential knowledge of internal psycho spiritual dynamics.
Rooted in a personal practice of meditation and yoga spanning more than 20 years James blends his clinical expertise with mindfulness-oriented approaches during therapy sessions. Drawing heavily from wisdom-based healing paradigms such as Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, conscious nutrition, and Transpersonal Psychology James enjoys helping others to uncover and embrace their own personal paths of awakening into domains of sustained mental and emotional wellness. He is convinced that panoptic healing experiences can be cultivated through a genuine integration of body, mind, and spirit.
With a focus on the imaginal components of creativity as an inroad to self-reflection James frequently encourages expressive arts modalities with clients as a way to stimulate, as well as to soothe, the intellect and emotions. James considers the human being as an instrument, or vessel, that when given the proper developmental environment, can be tuned to accommodate deeper frequencies of awareness and insight. James works with individuals struggling from presentations of anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use disorders as well as those struggling with other indicators of mental-emotional-spiritual disharmonies. He especially enjoys helping to facilitate meaningful transformation in clients within the context of a life coaching or life mentoring alliance.
